About the role
Hancock County Health System is seeking a full-time physician to join a busy outpatient practice with immediate patient volume. The position is located in Hancock County, Iowa, serving a population of approximately 12,000 residents.
Shift Description
No call required. The practice covers newborn to end-of-life care, including general surgery, cataract surgery, vein procedures, cardiology, ENT, nephrology, OB Shared Care, ophthalmology, orthopedics, neurology, pain management, plastics, podiatry, skin cancer screening, pain, dermatology, and weight management. Specialties include general surgery, cataract surgery, vein procedures (ablation and sclerotherapy), cardiology, ENT, nephrology, OB Shared Care, ophthalmology, orthopedics, neurology, pain management, plastics, podiatry, skin cancer screening, pain, dermatology, and weight management. Lab, x-ray, ultrasound including Echo, pain management, OP geriatric psych, behavioral health therapy, sleep, MRI, CT, mammography, surgery, nuclear med, PT, RT, OT, ST and ER services are all on-site. The practice also includes a 25-bed critical access hospital and primary care clinic, affiliated with MercyOne North Iowa, a Level III Trauma Center and regional referral teaching center.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to patients from newborn to end-of-life, including general surgery, cataract surgery, vein procedures, cardiology, ENT, nephrology, OB Shared Care, ophthalmology, orthopedics, neurology, pain management, plastics, podiatry, skin cancer screening, pain, dermatology, and weight management.
- Collaborate with specialists including general surgery, cataract surgery, vein procedures, cardiology, ENT, nephrology, OB Shared Care, ophthalmology, orthopedics, neurology, pain management, plastics, podiatry, skin cancer screening, pain, dermatology, and weight management.
- Work in a Level IV Area Trauma Care Facility with telemedicine and teleradiology capabilities.
- Participate in continuing medical education (CME) programs offered annually.
Requirements
- Graduate of a medical/osteopathic medical school.
- Demonstrated competency as a physician by completing an appropriate residency program; board certified or board eligible.
- Able to obtain Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa medical staff privileges.
- Above average communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Licensed or eligible for State of Iowa physician license; Iowa Controlled Substance Certificate and Federal DEA Certificate.

Benefits
The position offers a highly competitive compensation package including a $150,000 bonus package, $301,290 base salary, 34 days of paid time off when on base, 40 days of PTO when on production, annual CME funding of $6,000, health/dental/vision/life insurance, short-term/long-term disability, 403(b) retirement program with employer contribution and matching, and optional 457(b) deferred compensation plan. Employer-sponsored professional liability insurance and tail insurance coverage are also provided.
