Job Summary
Provides treatment and diagnosis in the form of History & Physicals, consults, and follow-up care. Functions independently to provide medical management to behavioral health patients in an acute care setting with a supervising physician. Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the ages, developmental stages, and special needs/health conditions of the population served. Promotes a safe environment and performs all job functions in a safe manner. Functions under the general supervision of the supervising physician and the administrative manager as appropriate. Provides Evaluation and Management services for patients in psychiatric healthcare facilities as indicated.
Duties
- Takes histories, performs physical exams, orders necessary diagnostic tests such as labs and imaging studies.
- Formulates initial diagnosis and institutes appropriate treatment or renew prescriptions in collaboration with Supervising Physician.
- Manages all chronic medical conditions of adult and geriatric population.
- Works independently with other members of the medical team, with entitlements to specific clinical privileges approved by the clinic’s Medical Executive Board.
- Participates in an interdisciplinary team that provides medical care to patients.
- Performs patients’ histories and physicals, risk factor assessment, ordering of therapeutic and diagnostic tests; follow-ups and consultations.
- Prescribes medications following the clinic’s policy, formulary, and relevant regulations of the State.
- Consults with physicians on cases that are beyond the scope of qualification of FNP.
- Put all relevant patient data in medical records and case presentations.
- Ensure smooth communication with other health professionals for effective delivery of clinic service to patients.
- Maintain courtesy and composure when dealing with internal and external customers.
- Provide consultation to the clinic’s nursing and medical staff for improvement in their work performance, which enhances overall quality service delivery of the clinic.
Professional Experience / Education Requirements
- Must have a current license/DEA Certificate as a family nurse practitioner/PA in Florida.
- Graduate of an accredited school.
- Must be Board Certified.
- Must have at least 1 year of experience in a clinical psychiatric setting that includes training for all age ranges of patients.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, self-motivation, and high personal integrity and ethics.
Compliance Responsibilities
- Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies, and procedures including, but not limited to, those within the compliance process, Standards of Conduct, HIPAA, and JCAHO.
- Participates in required orientation, ethics, and HIPAA training programs.
- Reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance following Standards of Conduct.
- Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigation.
- Participates, as requested, in process improvement responsibilities.
