Salary: $250,000 to $290,000 annually. The final salary will be determined based on market data, internal equity, candidate experience, and budget constraints. Additional incentive compensation may be available for clinical work beyond standard responsibilities.

About the Role

The Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford (UICOMR) and the UI Health Mile Square Health Center – L.P. Johnson Rockford are seeking a full-time Family Medicine-OB Physician. This role combines clinical responsibilities at the health center and labor & delivery with faculty duties at UICOMR, offering a blend of patient care, teaching, mentoring, and scholarly activity.

UI Health provides comprehensive care, education, and research through a clinical enterprise that includes a Joint Commission-accredited tertiary care hospital, outpatient clinics, and the Mile Square Health Center network of federally qualified health centers. It also encompasses seven UIC health science colleges, including regional campuses in Peoria, Quad Cities, Rockford, Springfield, and Urbana. UI Health is dedicated to health equity.

Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including for OB patients.
  • Examine patients and obtain medical histories to prepare patient profiles.
  • Review developmental and medical history of patients.
  • Participate in diagnostic staffing to determine diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
  • Discuss findings and recommendations with patients, families, or agencies as needed.
  • Manage medications, including writing prescriptions and monitoring efficacy and adverse reactions.
  • Round on OB patients and newborns, perform deliveries on labor & delivery, and participate in OB call.
  • Share L&D responsibilities with 2-3 other FM-OB faculty and a supportive Obstetrics department.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Faculty Responsibilities

  • Precept residents in ambulatory settings and oversee resident teams on labor & delivery.
  • Supervise residents in the STRETCH-OB surgical obstetrics program.
  • Present didactics to support medical education.
  • Advise and mentor residents and medical students.
  • Participate in supported scholarship activities.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine (board certification required by start date).
  • Unrestricted Illinois medical license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced training or fellowship in obstetrics or women’s health.
  • Experience performing and interpreting obstetric ultrasound procedures.
  • Experience managing prenatal care and independently performing deliveries.
