About the role

The Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford (UICOMR) and the UI Health Mile Square Health Center – L.P. Johnson Rockford are pleased to announce a joint full-time position for a Family Medicine-OB Physician. This role encompasses both clinical responsibilities at the health center, on labor and delivery, and faculty duties within UICOMR, providing a unique opportunity to blend patient care with teaching, mentoring, and scholarly activity.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to a panel of patients, including OB patients.
  • Examine patient and obtain medical history from patient, parents, guardians to prepare patient profile.
  • Review developmental and medical history of patient.
  • Participate in diagnostic staffing to correlate findings, determine diagnosis and develop appropriate treatment recommendations.
  • Discuss findings and recommendations with client, parents, agencies, etc. as needed.
  • Responsible for medication management (includes but is not limited to writing prescriptions, monitoring efficacy, monitoring adverse reactions).
  • Round on OB patients and in the newborn nursery, perform deliveries on labor and delivery, participate in OB call.
  • Share in L&D responsibilities with two to three other FM-OB faculty and a supportive Obstetrics department.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Precept residents in the ambulatory setting as well as oversee a resident team on labor and delivery.
  • Supervise residents in our innovative STRETCH-OB surgical obstetrics program.
  • Presentation of didactics to support medical education.
  • Advising and mentoring of residents and medical students.
  • Participation in supported scholarship activities.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine (board certification required by start date).
  • Unrestricted Illinois license to practice medicine or Illinois license eligible.
  • Currrent Valid American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.

Qualifications

  • Advanced training or fellowship in obstetrics or women’s health.
  • Experience in performing and interpreting obstetric ultrasound procedures.
  • Experience in managing prenatal care and independently performing deliveries.

Pay

The budgeted annual salary range for this position is $250,000 to $290,000. The final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. Additional incentive compensation may also be available for clinical work performed beyond the standard scope of responsibilities.
