Family Law Attorney
About the role
The firm is seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney to join their growing practice. This role involves representing clients in divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, and spousal maintenance matters, from negotiation and mediation through trial. Responsibilities also include drafting and reviewing pleadings, motions, stipulations, parenting plans, and marital settlement agreements, managing discovery, appearing in state court for hearings, mediations, and trials, and advising clients on prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, property division, and related estate planning considerations.
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, and spousal maintenance matters, from negotiation and mediation through trial
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, stipulations, parenting plans, and marital settlement agreements
- Manage discovery, including depositions, and handle complex financial and custody disputes
- Appear in state court for hearings, mediations, and trials
- Advise clients on prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, property division, and related estate planning considerations
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in the state, in good standing
- 5+ years of family law experience, with a demonstrated track record handling divorce, custody, and support matters
- Strong courtroom presence and trial experience
- Excellent legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to synthesize complex legal and financial issues into clear terms for clients, courts, and opposing counsel
