Family Engagement Coordinator

About the role

The Family Engagement Coordinator position supports the PREPARES Pregnancy and Parenting program by facilitating weekly group offerings for families in Spanish and English and providing targeted family engagement support.

Responsibilities

  • Group Facilitation and Direct Service
    • Facilitate two weekly 90 minute groups
    • Disseminate streamlined lesson plans using established curriculum
    • Provide families with information, resources, and referrals during group sessions
  • Data Collection and Reporting
    • Collect required data related to participating families per program guidelines
    • Complete brief post group summaries documenting engagement and key outcomes
    • Prepare a concise monthly summary highlighting collective group outcomes and trends
    • Conduct and disseminate parent surveys per project guidelines
  • Community and Family Engagement
    • Build and maintain relationships with participating caregivers and families
    • Cookordinate basic resource navigation support
    • Coordinate with PREPARES volunteers to support families in accessing essential needs ensuring timely and responsive follow up aligned with program guidelines
  • General Program Support
    • Establish and nurture collaborative relationships with caregivers, young parents, community partners and colleagues
    • Provide resources to parents/caregivers and their children that increase stability and readiness for learning
    • Utilize and support the continuity of care, sustainability and quality of general operations
    • Support the continuity of play groups by consistent communication and shared arts, craft, and theme ideas with other facilitators in the program
    • Recruit vulnerable young pregnant and parenting families
    • Coordinate activities with internal team and external partners as needed to promote quality of care for children, families, and caregivers

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, required
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in early childhood education required or providing services, or education to families is required
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in writing, reading, and speaking Spanish and English required
  • Strong interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication
  • Commitment to working with marginalized populations and supporting diversity, inclusion, and cultural relevancy
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Able to work independently, as a team member, and a collaborative partner
  • Able to represent the agency in a professional manner
  • Knowledge of Central Washington region and resources
  • Ability to present information formally and informally in large and small groups

Job Requirements

  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and minimum required liability insurance for WA State
  • Must be deemed insurable as determined by Catholic Charities’ liability insurance provider
  • Employment is conditional upon being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required

Physical Requirements

This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting, driving, or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking and hearing and adequate vision on a regular basis to perform the job requirements.

Work Schedule

Monday, 8:30am to 5:00pm; Tuesday, 8:30am to 4:00pm; & Wednesday, 8:30am to 2:00pm (20 hours week)

Wage Range

$22 to $27 hour, depending on experience

Benefits

  • Sick leave accrues at 1 hour of leave for every 40 hours worked
  • Eligibility for medical insurance if working 30+ hours per week, on average
