Family Court-Deputy Juvenile Officer - Delinquency
About the role
The Family Court of St. Louis County is hiring for a Deputy Juvenile Officer in the Delinquency Department. The position is eligible for the 10% addition to pay effective January 12, 2020. This is a non-merit position.
Responsibilities
- Supervise (formal and informal) juveniles referred to the Juvenile Office.
- Conduct interviews with juveniles and their parent(s)/guardian(s)/custodian(s).
- Prepare comprehensive assessments and treatment (case management) plans.
- Prepare written reports with recommendations for court hearings.
- Testify in court.
- Provide crisis management and supportive services.
- Link juveniles and families with appropriate resources.
- Utilize family engaged case planning and evidence-based interventions.
- Administer Miranda Warnings.
- Coordinate cases with the Missouri Interstate Compact Office.
- Transport juveniles as needed to scheduled appointments.
- Participate in and help operate Juvenile Office-sponsored programs.
- Attend interdisciplinary staffing's, unit meetings, departmental meetings, case conferences, treatment consultations, etc.
- Conduct public speaking engagements on behalf of the Juvenile Office.
- Serve as a liaison with schools and the police.
- Consult with and advise the community and general public on juvenile matters.
- Attend and complete a minimum of 24 hours of approved job-related training per year.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related social/behavioral science (Master’s degree preferred).
- At least one year of professional experience working with youth and families.
- Ability to work with a diverse population of people.
- Good writing, oral communication, and time management skills.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to transport juveniles and parent(s)/guardian(s)/custodian(s) as needed.
- Frequent home and community-based contacts with juveniles and parents.
- Late afternoon and evening hours may be required.
Skills

Pay
Range 10 $49,254 - $73,902. This position is eligible for the 10% addition to pay effective January 12, 2020.
Schedule
This is a non-merit position and the schedule is flexible, but includes some late afternoon and evening hours as needed.
Additional Information
All applicants conditionally offered a permanent part-time, full-time, term or on-call position will be required to submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be paid by the County.
