About the role
The part-time Head Start/EHS/ECEAP Family Advocate serves a caseload of children and families through home visits, family assessments, tracking child attendance, and routine medical/dental care follow-up. The Family Advocate also facilitates parent engagement by identifying family strengths and needs, providing community resources and referrals, and supporting parents as the primary educators and nurturers of their child.
Responsibilities
- Conducts home visits and ensures monthly contact with families.
- Completes family assessments and tracks child attendance and routine medical/dental care.
- Facilitates parent engagement by identifying family strengths and needs, providing resources, and supporting parents.
- Shares relevant information about the child and family with the Direct Service Team, Area Manager, and other leadership members.
- Maintains child site files and participates in weekly case management staffing.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with children and families to promote nurturing parent-child relationships.
- Identifies and promotes existing and new community resources for child and family services.
- Maintains complete, objective, and confidential records for children and families in accordance with program standards, state, and federal laws.
Requirements
- Associate's degree with 30 college quarter credits in Adult Education, Human Development, Human Services, Family Support, Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience as a Social Work Assistant I or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Basic computer skills and keyboarding proficiency.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include an Associate's degree with 30 college quarter credits in a related field or a DCYF-approved comprehensive and competency-based Family/Social Service training program.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a Washington State Patrol Background Check, Sex Offender Registry Check, TB test, Food Worker Card, and Portable Background Check through MERIT.
- Must provide a Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) or an acceptable version of CIS in accordance with the Washington Department of Health.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and cultures.
- Proficiency in using computers and keyboarding.
- Knowledge of Head Start/EHS/ECEAP Performance Standards, Washington State Administrative Code for Licensed Child Care centers, and program policies and procedures.
Benefits
This position is a non-permanent classified position working no more than 19 hours per week. It requires in-person work at the LCC East Head Start location.
Pay
Salary range: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Schedule
Two part-time openings available:
- AM session: 8:00-11:30
- PM session: 12:30-4:00
