Family Peer Advocate (Part-Time)

Responsibilities

• Empower families by providing education on system navigation, rights, and services, while promoting active participation in their child's care and fostering positive behavioral strategies.
• Make referrals, facilitate access to services, conduct assessments to identify gaps, and provide support in various community settings including homes.
• Lead parent education, facilitate peer advocate training, and collaborate with providers and multidisciplinary teams to enhance family-driven practices and system responsiveness.
• Maintain required documentation, obtain/maintain OMH-approved credentials, participate in supervision and training, and support multiple sites based on departmental needs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED preferred
• Provisional Family Peer Advocate Credential (PFPA) must be obtained within 12 months of hire
• Family Peer Advocate Credential must be obtained within 36 months of receiving the Provisional Family Peer Advocate credential.

Preferred Attributes

Preferred attributes include high school diploma/GED, provisional and family peer advocate credentials, and experience in working with families and caregivers.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Pay

The listed base pay range is $18.25 - $24.00 per hour. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
