About the role
The Family Advocate supports early childhood education programs to create positive outcomes for children and families. Key responsibilities include engaging families in individualized experiences, managing program responsibilities, participating in outreach activities, and supporting family needs.
Responsibilities
- Engages families in in-home and group experiences to enhance parent/child interactions fostering school readiness.
- Manages responsibilities such as ERSEA, record keeping, reporting, and maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment.
- Supports the well-being of children and encourages family involvement in the Head Start program.
- Assists families in completing applications and collecting necessary documents.
- Maintains funded enrollment levels, fills vacancies, and analyzes enrollment data.
- Creates attendance goals for families and completes data entry related to responsibilities.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with community partners to access resources and training.
- Attends assigned meetings, events, and training sessions.
Requirements
- Ace a degree in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling, or a related field, or hold an AA or BA in another field with a commitment to obtaining a Family Services Certificate/Credential within 18 months.
- Experience, training, and skills in assisting parents of young children to advocate for their families, with experience in low-income diverse communities preferred.
- Pass a physical exam and background check.
- Travel up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions, requiring reliable personal transportation.

Pay
This position pays between $19.49 and $23.33 hourly based on education and years of experience.
Schedule
Work involves local and long-distance travel up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
