Family Advocacy Nurse

About the role

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) seeks a Full-Time Family Advocacy Nurse to support the mission of the Department of the Air Force (DAF) through the Family Advocacy Program (FAP).

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, professional nursing clinical prevention services to high-risk maternal-child families.
• Design, develop, maintain, implement, and evaluate the New Parent Support Program (NPSP) component of FAP.
• Serve as the installation NPSP subject matter expert (SME), providing consultation to installation leadership and medical professionals.
• Perform risk screening, clinical assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions, case management, and multi-disciplinary team consultations.
• Prevent and treat child and spouse/intimate partner abuse, serving beneficiaries located over a large geographical area.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship
• Valid, unrestricted, and current registered nurse license in a state or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (IAW DoD guidance)
• At least two years of direct experience in child abuse or domestic abuse, maternal child health, or community health (IAW DoD guidance)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Qualification requirements stipulated by the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for the 0610 occupational series must be met.
• Regular contact with children.
