Families Together Building Solutions Supervisor/Worker
About the role
This position provides supervision and direct services in the Families Together Building Solutions (FTBS) Program which provides homebased services to assist in reducing child abuse/neglect, solution-focused services to assist families with meeting behaviorally specific goals, and aims to keep families intact. This position will serve Kalamazoo County.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a supervisor and direct service provider for the FTBS Program.
- Accepts referrals via telephone or in-person.
- Provides in-home services for 90 days in duration with a possible extension up to an additional 90 days.
- Provides clinical back-up for staff.
- Trains and orientates new FTBS Direct Workers.
- Maintains program records and documentation of services provided to each family.
- Participates in performance management activities, including meetings to review performance data, policies, and procedures.
- Ensures that contractual requirements are being met and that staff are not assigned more cases than the maximum.
- Attends court hearings with staff, when necessary, to ensure staff are supported and program model is upheld.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in any human services field or the field of education is required.
- A minimum of 1 year of prior supervisory work experience or potential for providing supervision to staff providing in-home services is required.
- A minimum of 1 year of demonstrated knowledge pertaining to child welfare policies and programs, family and individual theories; treatment (intervention and technique) philosophies and strategies of home-based services, as well as knowledge and availability of local resources is required.

- Must have a commitment to and capable of adhering to the Solution-Focused, Brief Therapy Treatment Model.
- Experience working with multi-problem children and families and overall ability to engage and relate with multi-problem families.
- A non-judgmental positive attitude toward families in crisis.
- An understanding for the Families Together Building Solutions and Family Preservation philosophy and intervention strategies.
- A commitment to empowering families.
- The ability to work in partnership with other team members and/or service providers.
- Sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences present in the agency’s service population.
- The ability to forge a mutually respectful partnership with individuals and families in which they are helped to gain skills and confidence to address issues and problems.
- The knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to families and children 0-18.
- An acceptance of individual differences.
- Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license and good driving record with zero work restrictions.
- A personal auto insurance as required by law with minimum bodily injury coverage limits of $250,000 per person/$500,000 per incident or $500,000 combined.
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule based on needs of the clients served.

Salary Up to $58,905.00 annually based on relevant supervisory work experience.

Flexible work schedules must be maintained to ensure appointments are scheduled based on families’ needs and to allow for timely crisis intervention.
