Fall Co-Op - AES Mechanical Installations Engineer
About the Role
As an intern with Textron, you’ll gain hands-on experience while exploring your interests and building new skills. You’ll be supported and challenged to contribute in meaningful ways—working on real projects alongside experienced professionals to prepare for future success.
This internship focuses on the design of avionics and electrical systems equipment installation on Single Engine and Citation Jet aircraft.
Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering drawings for avionics and electrical system equipment installation using computer-based drafting tools (CATIA and/or IAI HarnesSys).
- Design installation of cockpit displays and controls, remote line replacement units, antennas, sensors, wire bundles, and secondary support structure.
- Perform analyses requiring frequent application of engineering principles.
- Assist in preparing engineering trade studies, functional test procedures, certification reports, and other engineering documents.
Requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Time management skills.
- Critical thinking skills for troubleshooting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional and diplomatic demeanor.
- Working knowledge of CATIA V5.
- Must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of application; visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors requiring employment sponsorship.
Qualifications
Prefer completion of 60 credit hours while currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace).
Schedule
Summer internships are 40 hours per week, typically from late-May to early-August, lasting 10 weeks. Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
