Fall Analyst Intern

Vals AI is hiring for full-time positions starting in January 2026. We're looking for researchers and engineers to join our team in San Francisco. We're building the standard for evaluating LLMs on real-world tasks. Our benchmarks help organizations measure what foundation models can actually do in economically valuable tasks. We work with all the major foundation model labs, as well as some of the largest financial institutions and enterprises in the world. Our work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and Bloomberg.

About the role

We are seeking individuals who are passionate about advancing the field of artificial intelligence and contributing to the development of cutting-edge benchmarking tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning, natural language processing, and a deep understanding of real-world task evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain state-of-the-art benchmarking tools for evaluating large language models on real-world tasks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that our benchmarks are aligned with organizational needs and industry standards.
• Contribute to research papers and presentations at leading conferences and workshops.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in AI and machine learning, and incorporate these advancements into our benchmarking efforts.

Requirements

• A master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Experience with large-scale data processing and analysis.
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, or other relevant languages.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of successful research projects or publications.
• Experience working with large datasets and conducting statistical analyses.
• Knowledge of NLP techniques and methodologies.
