Fall 2026 Production Intern
About the role
Iowa PBS is seeking two exceptional Fall 2026 interns within our production division. As a production intern, you'll dive into the world of studio cameras, teleprompters and lighting, gaining hands-on experience in operating professional-grade equipment. You'll work alongside our seasoned videographers, editors, and scenic professionals, developing expertise in the art of content creation, editing, and distribution.
Responsibilities
- Master Video Production Techniques: Learn the ins and outs of studio and on-location video production, from camera operation to lighting setups, ensuring you have a solid foundation in the technical aspects of video creation.
- Hone your editing skills using industry-standard software, transforming raw footage into polished, engaging content that captivates our audiences.
- Develop your ability to craft compelling narratives, translating ideas into captivating visual stories that educate and inspire.
- Work closely with a diverse team of professionals, refining your collaboration, communication, and project management skills in a real-world broadcast environment.
- Encounter and overcome challenges unique to the world of media production, cultivating a problem-solving mindset that will serve you well in any future endeavor.
- Gain insights into audience preferences and engagement strategies, helping you understand how to connect with viewers on a deeper level.
Qualifications
Applicants for positions in this class must be currently enrolled students in a degree program at an accredited educational institution, as determined by the Iowa Department of Administrative Services – Human Resources Enterprise.
Skills
While not required, candidates with experience in video production, editing, storytelling, and teamwork are highly preferred.

Interns will gain valuable experience in the field of media production and have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including Iowa Press and Market to Market, as well as special events such as the girls high school volleyball championships, high school football championships, college wrestling, and the All-State Music Festival.
Pay
The pay rate for this internship is $15.00 per hour.
Schedule
Interns will work approximately 15 hours per week during the Fall 2026 semester.
