Fall 2026 Preferred Communities Intern - UNPAID

About the role
This position is part of the Preferred Communities (PC) program, aimed at supporting refugee and ORR-eligible populations with challenging needs, including those with serious medical conditions, women at risk, and elderly refugees. The program serves clients from Reception and Placement (R&P), Matching Grant, or DCF, and includes walk-in clients. The intern will work a minimum of 15 hours per week for at least three months, with flexible hours between 9 AM and 5 PM on weekdays, and occasional weekends.
Responsibilities
- Help with document management, including scanning and filing documents
- Complete data entry and note-taking tasks
- Aid clients in developing problem-solving skills and supporting their self-sufficiency
- Accompany caseworkers to appointments and support service delivery
- Adhere to IRC work ethics while serving clients
- Collaborate effectively with caseworkers, staff, and external community providers
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and special staff development programs

Schedule
This is a hybrid role. The internship will be filled on a rolling basis, with applications accepted until August 14th, 2026, or until the position is filled, whichever occurs first. The internship will begin the week of September 8th, 2026. This position reports to the ICM Caseworker.
