About the role
The Immigrant Youth English Cafe Intern supports the Miami-Dade-based Immigrant Youth team in delivering essential services to immigrant children and their families. The intern will lead conversational English skills for youth and adults, assist with outreach, and contribute to data collection.
Responsibilities
- Lead conversational English skills for youth and adults.
- Be punctual with a high sense of responsibility.
- Prepare the topic, materials, and talking points for each session.
- Plan and schedule the English Café.
- Lead several weekly English Café sessions.
- Assist with creating a promotional campaign to engage clients in the English Café.
- Aid in establishing partnerships with local organizations within the community.
- Help with data collection and tracking related to the English Café attendance.
Qualifications
- Passionate about language education.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Organized with attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and under pressure.
- An interest in international issues.
- Strong desire to help people and enthusiasm for working in a multicultural setting.
- Computer literacy – preferably with PC systems.
- Access to internet.
Requirements
- Must pass a background check.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Minimum commitment of 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive months.
- Submit intern hours on volunteer dashboard.
