Fall 2026 Immigration Intern (UNPAID)
About the role
The IRC is an organization dedicated to responding to global humanitarian crises, providing assistance to those affected by conflict and disaster. This internship offers an opportunity to work with a recognized representative to assist clients in immigration matters.
Responsibilities
- Provide general information on immigration law and procedures.
- Complete application forms based on client information.
- Notify clients of follow-up information such as appointment notices, requests for evidence, and oath ceremonies.
- Respond to requests for case status updates.
- Assist with case management tasks, including entering client information and updating case files.
- Conduct intake and/or complete service agreements.
- Research immigration-related topics and stay updated on DHS directives.
- Facilitate the development of training materials and contribute to standardization of programming.
- Conduct community outreach.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Preferred experience in an immigration-related field.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to work independently and in a dynamic team structure.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and internet research.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment.
Fluency in written and spoken English; bilingual candidates will be prioritized.
Skills
