About the role

The Co-op Program at Kokosing is designed to provide students with practical construction industry experience, the chance to work on value-added projects, connect with a mentor in their field of study, network with senior leaders, team members, and other co-ops, and so much more. Kokosing is actively training the next generation of leaders and needs skilled team members who reflect our core values and culture of safety.

Responsibilities

• Work with full-time construction professionals to gain practical experience and guidance on various tasks.
• Assume specific project responsibilities and daily activities to experience the industry firsthand.
• Contribute directly to the completion of quality projects under the supervision of supervisors and project staff.
• Receive structured work efforts to learn about areas of interest and contribute to project completion.
• Be assigned a mentor to address any questions or support needed during the co-op period.
• Present on the culmination of learning and experiences at the Co-op Capstone Event, held after each summer term.
• Meet senior-level management and participate in fun, interactive activities showcasing various aspects of the construction and engineering industry.

Requirements

We are looking for students interested in a co-op experience for the Spring, Summer, or Fall semesters. Applicants should be enrolled in a college or university and have completed at least one semester or year of study. They must be pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Surveying, Estimating, or a related field. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a strong academic record, be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, and possess a valid driver’s license. Prior construction experience is preferred but not required.

Skills

Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, are required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also important. Basic knowledge of construction terminology and practices is beneficial.

Benefits

During the co-op period, Kokosing provides a competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. Housing stipends or mileage reimbursements may be provided for relocation or commuting costs, depending on the distance from the assigned location.

Pay

Salary is determined based on experience and qualifications, with a range of $15-$20 per hour for entry-level positions and up to $30 per hour for experienced candidates. Hourly rates may vary based on the specific project and location.

Schedule

Co-op placements typically last for one semester (Spring, Summer, or Fall), with specific start and end dates determined by project availability and personal schedules. Housing stipends or mileage reimbursements may be provided for relocation or commuting costs, depending on the distance from the assigned location.
