About the role
The Co-op Program at Kokosing is designed to provide students with practical construction industry experience, the chance to work on value-added projects, connect with a mentor in their field of study, network with senior leaders, team members, and other co-ops, and so much more. Kokosing is actively training the next generation of leaders and needs skilled team members who reflect our core values and culture of safety.
Responsibilities
- Work with Full-Time construction professionals to gain guidance and share expertise on various tasks.
- Experience firsthand through specific project responsibilities and daily activities.
- Contribute directly to the completion of a quality project.
- Receive structured work efforts to learn about areas of interest under supervision and project staff.
- Be assigned a mentor for any questions or support needed during the co-op.
- Present on the culmination of learning and experiences at the Co-op Capstone Event.
- Meet senior-level management and participate in fun, interactive activities showcasing various aspects of the construction and engineering industry.
Requirements
We are looking for students interested in a co-op experience for the Spring, Summer, or Fall semesters. Students must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed at least one semester of study. They should have a strong academic record, be proficient in Microsoft Office, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be majoring in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Surveying, Project Management, or a related field. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and basic computer skills are required. Experience with heavy equipment operation and maintenance is preferred but not mandatory.
Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential. Basic knowledge of construction practices, safety protocols, and project management principles is beneficial.

Upon completion of each summer term, Kokosing hosts the Co-op Capstone Event, providing co-ops the opportunity to meet senior level management and participate in fun, interactive activities showcasing various aspects of the construction and engineering industry. Housing stipends for relocation or mileage reimbursements for commuting may be provided based on distance from residence to the assigned location.
Pay
Compensation varies based on the student's academic standing, experience, and the specific project they are assigned to. A competitive hourly wage is offered, along with benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and professional development opportunities.
Schedule
Co-op positions are typically scheduled for 16 weeks per term, with flexible start and end dates depending on project availability and student preference. Housing stipends for relocation or mileage reimbursements for commuting may be provided based on distance from residence to the assigned location.
