About the role
The Team Lead, Aircraft Maintenance Technician supervises a team and directs project flow, requiring extensive knowledge of engine and aircraft systems, including troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. This position also oversees aircraft or mechanical system inspections and manages multiple projects independently, with direct customer contact and program supervision responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Team Management: Supervise, mentor, and guide a team of aviation maintenance and services technicians. Foster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, and enhance technician skills through on-the-job training and performance coaching. Participate in hiring and disciplinary matters, and conduct quarterly performance assessments. Serve as a successor candidate for Program or Project Manager with mentoring provided.
- Program Operations: Provide daily oversight of assigned technicians, including setting work schedules and supporting aircraft deliveries. Review time charges and daily manpower scheduling. Collaborate with other Leads to ensure adequate manpower, parts, and resources for project success. Adjust manpower across teams to meet program goals and aircraft schedules.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure strict adherence to aviation regulations, safety protocols, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment for all team members and customers.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure the highest standards of service delivery and compliance with company quality assurance guidelines.
- Training and Development: Coordinate and conduct training programs to equip team members with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for process enhancement and implement strategies to optimize team workflows, efficiency, and overall productivity.
- Resource Management: Oversee the maintenance of service center tools, equipment, and hangar spaces to ensure availability and proper working order. Address concerns and needs with the Program Manager.
- Reporting and Documentation: Ensure all assigned team members maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including work orders, R&I forms, parts tags, resolutions, reports, and relevant documentation.
- Effectively and clearly communicate (speak, write, read) in English.
- Direct the work and flow of multiple projects and supervise team members in daily operations.
- Complete work orders, FAA paperwork, and billing items.
- Develop, supervise, and grow maintenance programs for particular aircraft models.
- Understand and implement regulations and guidelines.
- Troubleshoot and evaluate system operations.
- Work with others in a professional manner and coordinate projects through strong team management skills.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Airframe and Powerplant License (required).
- Aircraft-specific factory training (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport (ideal but not mandatory).
- 10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance (preferred).
- 4+ years of experience on program-specific aircraft.
- Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints.
- Ability to lead and provide incentive to team members, as well as handle customer interactions, including conflict resolution.
- Reliable attendance, including overtime and weekend assignments. Must notify supervisor in advance if unable to work.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
- Follow all company and safety rules while maintaining customer-oriented work habits.

Supervision

Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations (very cold to very hot).
- Work outside during aircraft runs may occur.
- Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
