FAIR FARES AGENT
About the role
The Department of Social Services (DSS) comprises the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA fights poverty and income inequality by providing essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS prevents and addresses homelessness through innovative strategies to help families and individuals exit shelter and return to self‑sufficiency. The Office of Constituent Services (OCS) ensures New Yorkers receive vital information about DSS‑administered benefits and programs, connecting with clients by phone, written correspondence, or in person with care and compassion.
Under the direction of call center leadership, the Fair Fares Client Support Representative answers Fair Fares‑specific calls to the DSS OneNumber, provides program information, and enrolls eligible low‑income consumers for discounted subway and bus service. This position requires working at a specified location with a pre‑determined straight schedule.
