Failure Analysis Technician

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Inspect and perform functional testing on components to accurately determine failure modes and defect conditions.
  • Conduct failure investigations, determine root causes, evaluate warranty claim validity, and prepare detailed failure analysis reports.
  • Collaborate with designated technical personnel and subject matter experts to resolve complex or advanced failure analysis cases.
  • Maintain the warranty workshop and storage areas to promote safety, organization, professionalism, and operational efficiency.
  • Process assigned quality notifications and ensure timely completion of required actions.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and update the SAP quality management system with all relevant findings and data.
  • Utilize the DEUTZ ticketing system to document, track, and manage issues identified during inspections and analyses.
  • Develop and maintain inspection procedures, work instructions, and other documentation supporting product analysis and technical support activities.
  • Partner with leadership to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection processes and failure analysis methodologies.
  • Afford assistance in documenting, maintaining, and improving departmental procedures and operational processes.
  • Manage product support requests received through the Service Desk and coordinate resolution efforts with service centers and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide technical assistance and support for general product-related inquiries and issues.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while adapting to changing business needs and workload demands.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, objectivity, and sound judgment when working in high pressure or challenging situations.

Minimum Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while adapting to changing business needs and workload demands.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, objectivity, and sound judgment when working in high pressure or challenging situations.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing electronic engine control systems.
  • Prior experience as a workshop technician, field service technician, diesel technician, or in a similar hands-on mechanical role.
  • Completion of a mechanical trade, technical training, or vocational education program.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Access; experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
