About the Role

Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) invites applications for one (1) open-rank core faculty position in Health and Environment. We seek applicants with demonstrated expertise at the intersection of health, environment, and climate change, who can demonstrate research expertise and teaching excellence focusing on interactions between public health, environment, climate change, armed conflicts and/or sustainable development.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in environmental health, climate and health, environmental epidemiology, and environmental research methods
• Maintain a dynamic and innovative research trajectory
• Publish in internationally recognized journals
• Teach two courses (or 6 credit hours) per semester (2-2 load)

Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree or equivalent in public health and epidemiology, environmental science, economics, political science, geography, medical anthropology, medical sociology, international health law, or a related discipline
• Demonstrated expertise at the intersection of health, environment, and climate change
• Excellence in teaching and research, as evidenced by publications in—or potential to publish in—internationally recognized journals

Academic Environment and Faculty Support

Applicants should provide a cover letter detailing teaching and research interests, curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy (no more than 500 words), evidence of teaching excellence (such as recent student course ratings, peer observation reports, etc.), and the names of three scholarly references.
