About the role
The University of Chicago’s Department of Microbiology is searching for tenured or tenure-track faculty members at all ranks. We seek applicants pursuing research in any area of microbiology or related areas, but we are particularly interested in scientists whose research programs focus on host-pathogens interactions, viral and bacterial pathogenesis, and emerging infectious diseases.
Responsibilities
- Teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, with the potential of teaching in the medical school.
- Research in any area of microbiology or related fields, with a focus on host-pathogens interactions, viral and bacterial pathogenesis, and emerging infectious diseases.
- Interfacing with the Microbiome Center, Physical Sciences Division, and Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering.
- Access to advanced research facilities including gnotobiotic animal research, flow cytometry, high-throughput genomics, and biocontainment facilities.
- Collaboration with the Duchossois Family Institute for access to biorepositories, metagenomic and metabolomic core facilities, and bioinformatic resources.
- Recommendation as a member of the Committee on Microbiology and, if appropriate, of other PhD-granting committees in the Biological Sciences Division.
Requirements
- A PhD or equivalent in microbiology or a related field.
- Completed postdoctoral training.
