About the Role
The Department of Molecular & Cellular Biochemistry at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level. The successful candidate will establish and maintain a vigorous, independent, extramurally funded research program, contribute to the teaching mission of the department, and participate in graduate training.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a robust, independent research program that attracts extramural funding.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biochemistry and related disciplines.
- Mentor graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.
- Foster collaborations within the department, across the university, and with external partners.
Requirements
- Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a closely related field.
- Postdoctoral research experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated potential to develop a strong, extramurally funded research program.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Research areas of interest include structural and cellular biology of cardiovascular, muscle, neurological, and metabolic diseases, cancer (including pediatric oncology), and developmental biology. Translational research programs that encompass aspects of both basic and clinical research are of special interest, particularly those that make use of mass spectroscopy-based approaches, advanced organoid models, or single-cell/spatial —omics and bioinformatic approaches.
