Faculty - Humanities (Adjunct)

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is hiring adjunct faculty to teach courses in the Humanities program. This is not an online-only position; in-person teaching is required, though future classes may include online, hyflex, or hybrid formats.

About the role

Faculty will teach a variety of HUM prefix courses, primarily during daytime hours, including but not limited to Technology and Society, Myth and Human Culture, and Critical Thinking. Classes may be held on various campus locations, with possible evening hours.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, manage, and deliver course content to achieve course objectives, accommodate diverse learning styles, and meet student learning outcomes.
• Actively engage students and provide prompt, objective, respectful, and effective feedback.
• Communicate and follow course syllabus content in accordance with provided directions and administrative guidance.
• Work collaboratively with the College’s support services to identify and address students’ academic support needs.
• Utilize College technology for instruction and operational processes, including the learning management system, email, document management, student information system, and employee portals.
• Meet deadlines, including maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records, and other assigned tasks.
• Ensure laboratories (when applicable) are appropriately stocked with required supplies and equipment is in safe operating order.
• Facilitate a positive, student-centered, and professional environment among students, faculty, and staff.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Humanities, Liberal Studies, or American Studies, or a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in related coursework focusing on the human condition (e.g., literature, philosophy, religion, history, and cultural studies).
• Ability to teach in-person during daytime hours (possible evening hours on various campus locations).

Salary: $35.85 per hour.
