About the role

The School of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies and The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) are seeking first-year writing faculty associates for the Los Angeles, CA campus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses to undergraduate students in a face-to-face format.
  • Prepare syllabus, lectures and class materials, exams, and grade assignments and exams.
  • Maintain regular availability to students, including office hours as appropriate to course modality.
  • Monitor student success and regularly respond to student academic issues.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree or higher in English or related field at time of hire.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students.
  • Record of scholarly publication.
  • Expertise in developing and teaching courses.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence e.g., student evaluations, syllabi, peer observation, annual evaluations, teaching philosophy, etc.
  • Experience with learning management systems such as Canvas or equivalent.

Pay

Faculty Associate positions are paid at a minimum of $1,500 per credit hour over the length of the session.
