Adjunct Faculty – First Year Writing

MCPHS seeks adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face first-year writing courses to undergraduate students on the Boston campus during the Fall 2026 semester. Available sections include Tuesday/Thursday at 8:00 AM and Monday/Wednesday afternoons.

Responsibilities

• Provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives, learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies, texts, readings, assignments, timelines, and evaluation criteria.
• Design engaging assignments that demonstrate real-world applications of course concepts.
• Use the University’s learning management system to post syllabi, assignments, and other materials, and to communicate with students.
• Advise and assist students through office hours, scheduled appointments, videoconference, phone, email, or other University-approved mechanisms.
• Provide service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Minimum of a master’s degree in English or a related field.
• Minimum of one year of teaching experience at the college/university level.
• Commitment to undergraduate education and student success.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and interact effectively with students, faculty, administration, and staff.
• Experience teaching health care-focused students preferred.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. MCPHS is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa and is not an E-Verify institution.

Pay

Hiring range: $6,250 per section. Salary offers are determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and market data.
