Factory Applications Engineer (Mil Aero; North Reading, MA)
About the role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Factory Applications Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be tasked with developing test software to run on Teradyne’s Spectrum ATE platforms. Tasks may include generating test software, using the C or C# language, defining the interfaces between the customer Units Under Test (UUT) and the Teradyne tester, and creating customer-facing documentation for the Test Program Set (TPS). You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware and mechanical engineering to create reliable and high-performance test solutions.
Responsibilities
- Translate Customer Test Requirements to Design, Debug, and Integrate test software to run on Teradyne Spectrum ATE platform consisting of Digital, Analog, and high-speed bus instruments such as eDigital, FIOXI, PBI, DI, BTI, ATI
- Working with internal hardware and mechanical teams, and/or 3rd party vendors
- Define associated test fixtures, including test adapters, cabling, load boards, etc., including switching, filtering, signal conversion, and other functions.
- Development of documentation for Teradyne’s TPS services
- Using tools including, Visual Studio, Git, TestStand, LabView, LabWindows, CVI, Test Studio, Converter Studio
- Devise innovative techniques for testing and characterizing advanced technology.
- Identify trends in customer TPS development to help guide the development of new Teradyne ATE instrumentation and software tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in Test Development Engineering or Application Engineering using Automated Test Equipment
- Proficiency with C, C++, and C# programming languages
- Comfortable with travel requirements which can be as much as 10% or greater
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational, problem solving, and PC Skills
- Ability to learn new things quickly and apply them
- Process oriented and continuous improvement focused
- Ability to develop and maintain fellowship across departments
- Prefer knowledge of graphical environments like TestStand or TestStudio
- Prefer familiarity with the Spectrum-9100, Spectrum-HS, HSSUB, or similar
- Prefer familiarity with Teradyne Digital Instrumentation
Qualifications
- BS or MS degree (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science)
Skills

Pay
The base salary range for this role is $126,800- 202,200. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
Schedule
This position requires some travel, up to 10% or greater.
