Facility Worker
About the role
South Dakota State University Facilities & Services is seeking motivated and dependable individuals to join our cleaning team as Facility Workers. No prior professional cleaning experience is required; willingness to learn is essential as training and tools will be provided. The position is located in Brookings, South Dakota. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.; sponsorship is not available. SDState is the state’s largest, most comprehensive university with over $94 million in annual research expenditures, more than 200 academic programs, and an enrollment of approximately 12,000 students. The university is part of a dynamic community offering many attractions and activities for families, students, young professionals, and retirees.
Responsibilities
- Provide cleaning services to SDSU Academic and Athletic Buildings to promote a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and the public.
- Hard and soft surface floor maintenance
- Restroom care
- Classroom and office detailing
- Building security
- Trash handling
- Exterior and miscellaneous maintenance tasks

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Willingness to learn how to operate basic computer software applications and various electronic systems
- Ability to follow oral instructions
- Ability to follow written instructions
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stretch, climb ladders, twist, and walk
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Valid driver’s license required for all shifts except the 10 p.m.–6:30 a.m. shift
Schedule
- Day shifts: 5:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
- Evening shift: 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.
- Night shift: 10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.
