Facility Technician II

About the role
The Facility Technician II position ensures that all facets of building maintenance are taken care of by performing preventative and facilities maintenance as well as meeting immediate maintenance needs. This is an onsite, full-time, non-exempt role located in Dania Beach, FL, reporting to Cesar Carrillo. Shift is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, and perform minor repairs, maintenance, and improvements
- Read, interpret, and implement work orders
- Use a CMMS (work order system)
- Effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and via email
- Use strong interpersonal skills and be safety-minded
- Problem-solve, troubleshoot, and understand resources to accomplish tasks
- Gather needed materials to complete repairs/work orders
- Accurately track and store the department’s inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment
- Support continuous improvement within all departments
- Assess and resolve a wide array of maintenance issues on-site, including:
- Electrical knowledge and lighting (interior and exterior)
- Maintenance of rack and guard railing
- Plumbing
- Welding
- Carpentry
- Understanding of pneumatic systems
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks using tools and equipment
- Assist other Maintenance Technicians in repairing and maintaining equipment
- Perform battery changes and preventive maintenance on batteries
- Operate powered industrial trucks, including people movers and forklifts (WSI certification required)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- At least 5 years' experience working in general maintenance/construction field, including roofing, carpentry, plumbing, cabinetry, electrical, or building construction, or related trade/technical school equivalency
- Flexibility with work hours and days (24/7 operation, including holidays)
- Ability to drive Powered Industrial Trucks (PID), such as people movers and forklifts
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, painting, flooring repairs, drywall repairs, and carpentry work
- Thorough knowledge and experience to safely operate a wide array of hand and power tools
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work independently, with flexibility, and self-reliance
- Ability to perform under pressure, with strong organizational and time management skills

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at heights and in unusual positions
- Able to safely operate all hand tools
- Able to lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis
- Able to operate powered industrial equipment, including forklifts, pallet-jacks, and handcarts
- Must be able to tolerate an environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and work around moving equipment—often while working in uncomfortable positions
- Dexterity in eye/hand coordination, feet (foot pedals), manual (picking, pinching, holding, grasping), and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation)
- Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces
- Occasionally exposed to work that requires repetitive motion
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- Comfortable with walking/standing 100% of the day
