Facility Technician I

Frac‑Chem is a distributor of oilfield chemical products based in Lafayette, Louisiana. The parent company, Vinmar International, has nearly four decades of multi‑billion‑dollar product distribution and marketing success in the United States and global markets within the plastics and chemical distribution industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist the facility manager in organizing and executing tasks in the facility.
• Participate in and operate daily functions of the warehouse/facility, including customer service, inventory, incoming and outgoing transport equipment, and equipment requirements to fulfill required activities and operations.
• Perform day‑to‑day warehouse/facility activities.
• Ensure compliance with warehouse/facility operating and safety procedures and all safety‑related requirements.
• Move materials within the facility and yard as instructed, using hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, motorized conveyors, or other material‑handling equipment.
• Load and unload trucks according to established safety and operating procedures.
• Assist preparation of shipments by staging, counting, documenting, and packaging materials for safe transport.
• Distribute received shipments by delivering materials to the proper location within the facility and processing paperwork to record transactions.
• Assist in physically locating customer‑property materials.
• Support the team with load‑outs or any staging of equipment.
• Prepare materials for safe movement or shipment using banding machines, clinchers, stretch film, crating, or other methods.
• Practice good housekeeping in assigned areas and properly dispose of waste according to safety and environmental policies.
• Promptly report any operational problems or safety issues with machinery, tools, or equipment to the Team Leader.

Requirements

• Knowledge of safety and legal documentation processes for handling warehouse‑related operations.
• Knowledge and ability to handle liquid chemicals, including storage and stowage.
• Experience transloading chemicals from ISO tanks, stackable totes, or bottles using mechanical pumps, connectors, and hoses.
• Forklift certification with recent operating experience.
• Machine‑operation experience.
• Ability to work on feet for the majority of the day.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights (e.g., connecting hoses to truck/trailer tops).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb repeatedly for loading/unloading purposes.
• Liquid‑chemical operations experience, including storage, stowage, handling, and transloading using mechanical pumps and hose connections.
• Strong time‑management skills, ability to resolve crises, and make prompt, effective decisions.
• Basic computer and telephone proficiency.
• Essential Physical Requirements:
  • Stand and walk for extended durations (8–12 hour shifts) on hard surfaces.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and squat to perform tasks such as material handling, hose connections, equipment inspection, and housekeeping.
  • Climb ladders and work at elevated heights, including accessing tops of tanks and trailers.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lb repetitively; heavier loads with team lift or mechanical assistance.
  • Push and pull loaded equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hoses, carts).
  • Perform repetitive movements including reaching, grasping, and handling materials at various heights (ground level to overhead).
  • Work in physically demanding environments, including exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, humidity).
