FACILITY TECHNICIAN Full-Time Exempt Reports to: Director of New Store Openings Mid-West Region – District 4 (Burbank Station, Naperville, Willowbrook, Downers Grove, Melrose Park, Tinley Park) Location: This position requires the employee to be located within the Chicago, IL area to support business operations, travel to work sites, and attend in-person meetings as needed. We’re seeking a hands-on Facility Technician with experience maintaining facility systems and equipment, who is committed to ensuring a safe, fully functional, and welcoming fitness environment for our members and team. Position Overview The Facility Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the overall safety, functionality, and appearance of multiple club locations within an assigned region. Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of repairs and routine, semi-skilled maintenance across sites. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, equipment repair, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and basic electrical work. This role requires the ability to travel between locations and effectively prioritize maintenance needs across facilities. The District Maintenance Technician operates a variety of maintenance and cleaning tools and equipment while supporting day-to-day facility operations. This position is critical to maintaining consistent standards and delivering an exceptional and safe member experience across all assigned locations. Facility Technician Responsibilities Equipment & Facility Maintenance Inspect, maintain, and repair commercial fitness equipment, including treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, rowers, strength machines, and cable systems. Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and facility-related issues; complete repairs or coordinate with vendors or subject matter experts when needed. Perform general building maintenance, including minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, flooring, and painting. Troubleshoot and maintain facility systems such as HVAC, lighting, doors, lockers, and plumbing fixtures. Assemble, repair, move, and maintain furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Conduct routine inspections of building systems and replace filters or escalate complex issues as needed. Maintain parts inventory and coordinate reorders with leadership and support teams. Multi-Location & Operational Support Travel between assigned club locations to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Prioritize work orders and service requests based on urgency and impact to safety and operations. Maintain consistent communication with club managers and leadership regarding maintenance needs and timelines. Support club operations, including special events and additional tasks as assigned. Safety & Risk Management Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure safety, cleanliness, and operational standards are met. Identify, report, and promptly correct safety hazards or maintenance concerns. Ensure all repairs meet company safety standards and manufacturer guidelines. Follow all safety protocols and use appropriate protective equipment. Assist with incident response, urgent repairs, and pest control prevention efforts. Vendor Coordination Partner with Facilities leadership to schedule and oversee third-party vendors for specialized repairs. Ensure vendor work is completed to company standards and in a timely manner. Cleanliness & Member Experience Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the interior and immediate exterior of the club. Complete daily cleaning and maintenance checklists as directed. Support a positive member experience by providing assistance to members and fostering a friendly, team-oriented environment. Administrative Responsibilities Accurately document and log all maintenance and repair work in Woven (or applicable systems). Maintain records of inspections, completed work, and inventory. Required Skills & Experience 2+ years of experience in facility maintenance, mechanical repair, building systems, or a related field Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, with the ability to diagnose issues and perform hands-on repairs Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel between locations using a personal vehicle Ability to lift 50+ lbs and safely operate tools, equipment, and machinery Must maintain a personal set of tools required to perform job duties Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, email, and maintenance management systems Access to a personal computer or laptop with reliable email capability Strong communication skills and fluency in English (written and verbal) CPR/AED certification required (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire) Physical Requirements This is a physical role requiring the employee to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may require standing or bending for prolonged work hours. Must also be able to safely climb a ladder when needed. Education Requirements High school diploma or GED required Schedule Requirement Employees must be available and flexible to work any day of the week, Monday through Sunday, as scheduled by the Company. Work schedules may vary based on business needs. Occasional early morning, evening or weekend repairs may be required. Work Environment Work is performed across multiple gym locations. Frequent walking, lifting, climbing ladders, and working around mechanical equipment. Vehicle Use & Travel Requirements This position requires regular travel between assigned locations using the employee's personal vehicle. Travel is typically 100–200 miles per week and may be higher during the initial training period Must maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing at all times Must maintain personal auto insurance that meets or exceeds company-required coverage levels Must have access to a reliable, safe, and properly maintained vehicle suitable for business travel Satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) required and subject to periodic review in accordance with company policy Employee is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and condition of their personal vehicle used for work purposes Must comply with all traffic laws and company safety policies while operating a vehicle for business use Any accidents, violations, or changes in driving status must be reported promptly in accordance with company policy Tools & Equipment Requirements Employees are required to provide and maintain a personal set of tools necessary to perform assigned job duties. This includes, but is not limited to, hand tools, power tools, drills, measuring devices, and other equipment required for the position. All tools must be kept in safe working condition, appropriate for the intended task, readily available for use, and operated in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company safety policies. The Company reserves the right to inspect personal tools at any time and prohibit the use of any tool deemed unsafe, defective, or inappropriate for the work being performed. Employees are responsible for the proper use, care, and storage of their tools. The Company is not responsible for loss of or damage to personal tools, except as required by applicable law. All work must be performed within the scope of the employee’s training and qualifications. Tasks requiring specialized licensure or certification must be escalated in accordance with company policy.
