Facility Staff Training Program Instructor

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the development and delivery of training within the DOC. Responsibilities include conducting needs assessments, curriculum development, delivery and/or coordination, and evaluation of training delivered in the Facility Staff Training and Support (FSTS) Program. Responsibilities also include development, presentation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of on-going specialized staff development and training programs for DOC staff with an emphasis on staff working in facilities, both uniformed and non-uniformed.

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $58,739 and $96,907 per year, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. The pay schedule/range is 81-03. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:
  • - Observing and evaluating progress, providing supervision, counseling and planning for individual skill development.
  • - Providing classroom training, to include in-person, virtual and/or hybrid.
  • - Evaluating performance and enforcing work rules, policies and procedures to ensure standards are being met.
  • - Working in Corrections or in a security-related role.
  • In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience:
  • - Working in a mentor, lead worker or supervisory role utilizing leadership skills and performance management strategies.
  • - Developing training programs, plans, course outlines and establishing training objectives and determining needs.
  • - Evaluating training sessions and programs by measuring learning, content relevance and overall impact.
  • - Having any of the following certifications (POSC Instructor; Firearms and Incapacitating Agents and Weapons Instructor; Fire Science Instructor; CPR and First Aid Instructor).
  • - Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and/or with stakeholders outside the organization.
