Facility Services Technician (Maintenance)
About the role
We are seeking a Facilities Services Technician to support maintenance at two affordable housing properties located in Racine, WI approximately 15 minutes apart. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with strong maintenance skills, excellent communication abilities, and a positive, can-do attitude.
Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
- Respond to maintenance requests and prioritize work orders based on urgency and resident needs.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency maintenance situations, including after-hours calls.
- Perform minor electrical repairs, including replacing outlets, switches, fixtures, ballasts, bulbs, fuses, and related components.
- Perform minor plumbing repairs, including repairing leaks, faucets, toilets, drains, and related fixtures.
- Complete painting, carpentry, drywall, masonry, and general repair projects.
- Install, repair, and replace household appliances such as refrigerators, ranges, microwaves, washers, and dryers.
- Repair and maintain doors, locks, hardware, closures, and related building components.
- Replace ceiling tiles and perform other interior building repairs.
- Clear drain and toilet blockages using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Assist with furniture and equipment moves, setups, and re-configurations.
- Monitor trash and recycling areas and coordinate proper waste management.
- Assist with routine testing and maintenance of fire, life safety, and emergency systems.
- Respond to facility emergencies including power outages, water leaks, gas-related concerns, and elevator emergencies.
- Assist with snow removal during scheduled shifts and when needed during emergencies.
- Maintain a professional and positive relationship with residents, visitors, vendors, and team members.
- Promote the organization's mission, vision, and values through excellent customer service.
Requirements
The successful candidate will bring a high school diploma or equivalent, minimum of 2-3 years of maintenance, facilities, property management, or related experience, valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to travel between two work locations. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, ability to work independently and make sound decisions, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism are also required.

Pay
$24 - $27 per hour based on experience
Schedule
The position will be between 20-40 hours per week with on-call responsibility.
