About the role

The Facility Maintenance Worker II will be responsible for the daily janitorial, maintenance, and general repair required for an assigned Kentucky State Police facility and grounds. Kentucky State Police operates a wide range of facilities throughout the Commonwealth, including Police Posts, Administrative Branches, Weigh Facilities, Headquarters, the Academy, and Laboratories.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance and janitorial duties for assigned buildings, grounds, and equipment.
• Make general repairs to plumbing, sewage, and electrical systems.
• Perform basic carpentry repairs to assigned facilities.
• Operate machinery and equipment required to complete duties.
• Assist skilled trade professionals when required.

Requirements

• One year of experience in building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services, or mechanical maintenance.
• Formal training in a related field may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Must be 18 years of age.

Preferred Skills

• Attention to detail.
• Experience in carpentry, plumbing, or electrical systems.
• General knowledge of hand and power tools, maintenance equipment, and lawn care equipment.

Working Conditions

• May be exposed to extreme temperatures.
• Must follow safety procedures, including the use of eye and ear protection when operating mechanical equipment.

Additional Information

• This position has a probationary period of 6 months.
• Employees in this position are prohibited from using medical cannabis due to applicable state or federal laws.
