Full-time, 12-month position.
About the role
This hands-on general maintenance role will perform skilled trade tasks to assist in maintaining facilities, including plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, furniture moving, and snow removal. Schedule and perform routine maintenance, repairs, and renovations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Utilize work order system to schedule and complete maintenance requests.
- Attend certification training as required and maintain re-certification.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to assisting with moving furniture, heavy equipment and supplies, snow removal, attending college functions, serving on committees, and attending community events.
- Operate company vehicles, equipment, and hand tools to complete assignments.
- Maintain storage area for supplies and equipment.
- Demonstrate basic understanding of carpentry, maintenance, plumbing systems, and electrical components.
- Apply working knowledge of flooring systems including repairs and full installation.
- Apply working knowledge of building structures including roofing systems, ceiling, and wall construction.
- Conduct a planned program of preventive maintenance.
- Order supplies, equipment, and materials as needed.
- Identify, install, and repair equipment which requires the understanding of blueprints.
- Attend employee in-service programs to improve work performance.
- Willingness to work outside normal work hours and weekends as needed to complete projects, emergency calls, or snow removal.
Requirements
- Utilize technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
- Strong working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in building maintenance.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Problem-solving aptitude.
- Physical stamina that will allow for long periods of standing and kneeling.
- Interpersonal skills to interact with employees and students in a pleasant manner.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong time management skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Competence to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years construction knowledge within a commercial setting.
- Experience in one or more trades including painting, drywall repair, carpentry, plumbing, door hardware, locks, electrical, HVAC, controls, and hardware for fire, security, and lighting systems.
- Experience working within a collegiate setting.

Pay
$40,560 per year.
Physical Requirements
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office and field setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
