Facility Maintenance Technician

About the role

Performs and/or coordinates installations, maintenance, and repairs of facility structures and equipment, including minor mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work. Coordinates with outside contractors for major services such as construction, HVAC, major electrical and plumbing, roofing, gardening and grounds, security, and janitorial.

Responsibilities

• Performs all minor mechanical, electrical, plumbing and carpentry installations and repairs to company equipment, fixtures, and structures.
• Helps coordinates the services of outside contractors for:
• Construction and remodeling
• Major electrical and plumbing
• HVAC maintenance and repair
• Roof maintenance and repair
• Garden and ground maintenance
• Janitorial services
• Security services and equipment
• Complies and maintains information, drawings, and documentation files concerning facilities.
• Establishes and maintains maintenance standards and schedules for company fixtures and equipment including, but not limited to:
• Motor Vehicles
• Fire Extinguishers
• Sprinkler risers, and PIV’s
• Backflow Prevention Devices

Requirements

• Minimum five years of hands-on experience in equivalent facilities or handyman work.
• Familiar with all aspects of facilities repair and maintenance practices.

Qualifications

• Detail oriented with the ability to handle tasks and priorities.
• Skilled in use of standard hand tools as hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.
• Skilled in use of power tools such as drill motors, saws, pumps, and compressors.
• Able to work on and complete projects with minimal supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literate including ability to use programs such as Word, Excel, and Visio.

Knowledge

• Minimum five years of hands-on experience in equivalent facilities or handyman work.
• Familiar with all aspects of facilities repair and maintenance practices.

Non-essential Functions

• Prepares reports for management as needed.
• May participate on the Company Safety Committee.

Travel

Very little travel.

Environment

• Works indoors in shops, offices, and warehouses, as well as outdoors and on roofs.
• May occasionally work close to loud machinery or equipment.
• May occasionally be exposed to hot or cold (uncontrolled) temperature environments.
• May be exposed to dirt, oil, grease, or solvents.

• Requires ability to climb ladders and maintain balance.
• Requires ability to grasp and hold objects with hands and fingers.
