About the role
The Facilities Maintenance Technician will oversee general upkeep of the Port Hueneme Facility and all operations equipment by performing routine preventative maintenance tasks, various special projects and improvements, and general repairs to the building.
Responsibilities
- Maintain operational equipment
- Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions (troubleshoot).
- MIG welding and fabrication for car wash and equipment repairs.
- Tear down machines, equipment, or other devices to remove defective parts using hoists, hand tools, or power tools.
- Set-up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jig fixtures, or tools.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to make necessary corrections by checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
- Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
- Maintain car wash to ensure operational for meeting daily target goals
- Perform and/or Schedule Preventive Maintenance (PM)
- Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work on proper documentation.
- Obtain quotes for PM for outsourced PM
- Aid with Interested Party Audits (ISO, County, Navy)
- Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawing, blueprints, manuals, etc.
- Perform routine maintenance such as inspecting drives, motors, belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or other PM actions
- Aids in performing scheduled maintenance and "as-needed" inspection and PM on tools and equipment to support daily operations (Examples are, forklift, air compressors, hydraulic pumps, buck loaders)
- Minor building maintenance
- Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal
- Maintain inventory of facility supplies such as restroom supplies, PPE, cleaning products, hand sanitizer, etc., to maintain facility
- Minor building maintenance such as painting buildings and fuel tanks, clean fuel tanks of rust or corrosion, repair racks in warehouse.
- Maintain hazardous waste area and satellite areas in Body Shops.
- Move waste in a safe manner and schedule for pickup.
- Schedule for pick up used tires for recycling.
- Respond to chemical spills and clean-up.
- Performs janitorial cleaning of buildings (trash, restrooms), yard maintenance and weed abatement.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Ability to understand any and all safety requirements with respect to equipment and machinery required
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions required
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace required
- Ability to read and interpret owners manuals, blueprints required
- High School Diploma/G.E.D Required
- 4 Years of Direct Experience in Mechanical, welding, troubleshooting Required
- Training in Welding, DOT HazMat required
- Must hold a valid state-issued driver's license without restrictions
