Facility Host
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Facility Host organizes, coordinates, and supervises Parks and Recreation Department facility uses and rentals. Facilities include the Ludwick Community Center, City / County Library, Senior Center, Meadow Park Building, Damon-Garcia Sports Fields and the Jack House & Gardens. This is an entry level, temporary part-time position. The position is limited to 20 hours per workweek and is not eligible to receive benefits.
Average hours per week: 10 to 20
SUPERVISION
Employees in this classification work under general supervision from the Recreation Manager and direct supervision from the Facilities Specialist.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The individual arranges for equipment, supplies, materials, staff and services at scheduled facility uses.
- Maintains accurate records, including fees paid, participants attendance, facility rental uses, staff work hours, parking enforcement and other facility use.
- Other duties may be required.
- Holidays, weeknight, weekend and evening work is required.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of:
- Organizational and planning skills as well as the policies and procedures of the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Basic computer skills
- Work independently
- Work evenings, weekends and holidays
- Lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds; read printed materials; communicate in person, with e-mail and over the telephone or two-way radio.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred, but not required.
- One year work experience in any program area with in the San Luis Obispo Parks and recreation Department, or one year experience in another Recreation Department as related to Facility uses.
- Educational background in the areas of Recreation, Physical Education, Child Development, or other related field is preferred, but not required.
POSSESSION AND MAINTENANCE OF
- Fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice will be required
