About the role

The Facilities Specialist I at Mississippi Power performs facility planning, interior design, space utilization, and construction coordination activities for corporate facilities. They participate in design development, prepare drawings and specifications, and manage project execution under general guidance. They support smaller facility projects and assist senior team members with construction administration, vendor coordination, and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Support a strong safety culture by identifying workplace hazards and promoting safe work practices.
  • Affirm office interiors, renovations, and facility improvement projects.
  • Prepare and revise construction coordination drawings, space plans, furniture layouts, and project documentation.
  • Develop design solutions involving furniture systems, finishes, lighting, and space utilization.
  • Cover project deliverables with facilities personnel, vendors, and consultants.
  • Review project requirements and assist in reconciling stakeholder requests.
  • Support the development of FF&E specifications and furniture standards.
  • Participate in project scheduling, budgeting, and cost tracking activities.
  • Maintain project records, drawings, and document management systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from an accredited college or university required.
  • Two (2) years of experience in interior design, architecture, construction, or workplace planning required.
  • Working knowledge of CAD production and design software.
  • Knowledge of commercial building codes, ADA requirements, and life safety standards.
  • Experience supporting design or construction projects.

Preferences

  • NCIDQ certification or progress toward certification.
  • LEED Accreditation or comparable credential.
  • Corporate workplace design experience.
