Facilities Designer

HGA is seeking a Facilities Designer to support the Integrated Services Business Unit. The Facilities Designer supports the design and layout of process facilities, plant infrastructure, and supporting systems across pipe rack/pipeway, equipment arrangement, and utility piping scopes. Working remotely with minimal supervision from a Lead Designer or Engineer, this role interprets engineering design input, develops constructible 3D models and drawings, and coordinates across disciplines to ensure designs are accurate, code-compliant, and field-ready. This position requires proven design experience in industrial or petrochemical environments, strong 3D modeling proficiency, and the judgment to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining close coordination with project teams.Key ResponsibilitiesInterprets and analyzes engineering design input, P&IDs, and vendor data to develop facility and piping layoutsDevelops and maintains 3D models, plot plans, and pipe rack/pipeway layouts for new and revamp facility designsChecks and reviews the work of designers and drafters, providing feedback and mentoring to less experienced team membersCoordinates design activities and schedules with other disciplines (civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation)Prepares detailed design deliverables for engineer review and approvalAssumes responsibility for the technical accuracy and constructability of finished designsPerforms interference and clash detection/resolution across disciplines within the 3D modelDevelops and maintains line lists, valve lists, and specialty item lists in support of design packagesCoordinates with stress engineers on critical line routing, expansion loop design, and pipe support/anchor placementSupports tie-in design for brownfield and turnaround work, including isolation planning for live/operating unitsGenerates material take-offs (MTOs) to support project cost estimatesFacilitates or participates in remote model reviews and interdepartmental design coordination meetingsCommunicates project schedules, design status, and variances to the project team and leadershipSupports construction through RFI response, redline incorporation, and field walkdown coordination as neededRequired QualificationsTechnical training in drafting/design from an accredited program (Associate's degree preferred) or equivalent industry experienceMinimum 5 years of facilities/piping design experience in industrial, petrochemical, oil & gas, or related heavy-industrial settingsProficiency with AutoCAD and 3D modeling software (CADWorx, AutoPLANT, or S3D preferred)Working knowledge of engineering design principles, plant layout, and constructability practiceExperience with 3D model review and clash detection tools (Navisworks or equivalent)Familiarity with laser scan software (e.g., ReCap, LFM) a plusKnowledge of P&ID interpretation, redlines, and ISO sketchingUnderstanding of pipe stress fundamentals and pipe support/anchor design principlesBluebeam Revu or equivalent markup/review software experience preferredDemonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong cross-discipline communicationProficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPointStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage time, priorities, and resources across multiple concurrent design packagesExperience with a consulting engineering firm or EPC environment preferredEqual Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled
