Facilities Worker I (Two Positions)
About the role
The Facilities Worker I independently performs a variety of semi-skilled facilities and systems maintenance functions as well as works under the direction of journey-level crafts worker. A significant portion of the assigned work will involve roof maintenance and hardscape repairs. Incumbent may also serve in a supporting role of other work assigned to the Multicraft shop that does not require the oversight of a journey-level crafts worker.
Responsibilities
- Independently performs a variety of semi-skilled facilities and systems maintenance functions.
- Operates all applicable tools, equipment and systems.
- Follows standard written instructions and procedures.
- Maintains records and retrieves data using record-keeping systems.
- Prepares standard reports.
- Evaluates and responds appropriately to emergency situations.
- Provides excellent customer service and works cooperatively with a diverse campus population.
- Works outdoors and on rooftops conducting maintenance and repairs.
- Performs remodel tear-down and set-up.
- Makes simple interior and exterior repairs of buildings and furniture.
- Passes appropriate OSFM certification exams for Fire Extinguisher inspections.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work outdoors and on the rooftops conducting maintenance and repairs.
- Knowledge and experience with remodel tear-down and set-up.
- Experience making simple interior and exterior repairs of buildings and furniture.
- Ability to maintain records and retrieve data using record-keeping systems.
- Ability to prepare standard reports.
- Ability to evaluate and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and work cooperatively with a diverse campus population.

Qualifications
- Work requires working knowledge of the common terminology, methods, practices, tools and procedures related to building and facilities services, maintenance and repair and/or a base knowledge of a building/construction or mechanical trade.
- Must be able to perform proficiently a variety of semi-skilled facilities maintenance and repair tasks.
- Must be able to follow standard written instructions and procedures.
- Must be able to read and write at a level appropriate to the position.
- Must be able to perform simple arithmetic calculations as required by the position.
- Must be able to learn maintenance and repair functions.
- Must be able to perform strenuous manual labor.

Pay
Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,250 per month (Step 1) - $4,882 per month (Step 8)
Schedule
Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Work hours may include evening and weekends, dependent on department needs.

Facilities Management is the steward for the University buildings, infrastructure, grounds and landscape.
