Products are sold through wholesale distribution across the United States and Canada for use on properties with onsite wastewater treatment systems.

About the Role

This is an entry-level facilities maintenance position focused on the maintenance, construction, and facilities management of plant and office buildings.

Responsibilities

• Continuously maintain Orenco’s safety, cultural, and professional standards.
• Promote, encourage, and reinforce a positive safety culture, safe practices, and a safe work environment for all employees.
• Plan the setup and operation of woodworking tools, considering types of material, tolerances, and cutting tools.
• Install wood or metal parts and glass, including replacing broken glass as required.
• Erect or dismantle roofing or siding.
• Operate light equipment such as lawn mowers, weed eaters, etc.
• Follow all Lockout/Tagout safety procedures.
• Complete paint touch-up or new construction painting using brushes and/or sprayer.
• Maintain a clean work area free of safety hazards.
• Read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
• Survey and stake proposed structure layouts at construction sites.
• Attend and participate in team meetings.
• Work as part of a mechanical/construction team on the construction, installation, or repairs to machinery and structures, collaborating with other trades such as machinists, mechanics, and electricians.
• Maintain regular, consistent, and predictable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least one to two years of woodworking experience.
• Knowledge and skills to operate machines and equipment used in the carpentry trade.
• Completion of initial eight-hour Emergency Response & HazWopper Operations level training (required).
• Completion of annual eight-hour HazWopper-Operations Level refresher training (required thereafter). Training includes:
  • Emergency communication, alarms, and evacuation routes.
  • Contingency plan implementation and emergency response procedures.
  • Emergency equipment use and inspection.
  • Incident response (fire, explosion, soil, and water contamination).
  • Site shutdown procedures.
  • Hazardous waste management, including handling and storage rules.
• Basic mathematics skills.
• Ability to use tape measures and complete setups on machinery.
• Flexibility to change priorities with little notice.
• High degree of precision, quality, and follow-through.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Must meet and maintain Orenco’s approved driver criteria, including:
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Satisfactory driving record.
  • Current insurance on personal vehicle.
  • Meet company insurability requirements.

Working Conditions

• Indoor and outdoor production environments with limited exposure to chemicals, paints, and solvent fumes generated during distribution and curing processes.
• Exposure to wood dust generated during cutting and sanding processes.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, face shields, dust masks, and respirators are provided.
• Work is performed during manufacturing business hours, which may occasionally include early or later shifts as needed.
• Occasional overtime may be required.

Physical Requirements

• Regular duties include seeing, speaking, hearing, reading, writing, and keyboarding.
• Periods of sitting, including time viewing a computer screen.
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking on concrete floors and varied terrain (developed and undeveloped).
• Climbing stairs and ladders.
• Reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, holding, measuring, cutting, stacking, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, and squatting.
• Repetitive foot and hand movement with good manual dexterity.
• Unassisted lifting of up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 70 lbs.; lifting over 70 lbs. must be assisted.
