Facilities Technician III
Position Title
Job Duties
The Facilities Technician III position is critical to the overall success of the University Housing mission. UWM University Housing’s mission is to enhance community members’ cultural understanding, leadership skills, academic success, social connections, and social responsibility by creating safe, comfortable, and well-maintained living learning environments that inspire growth and development for over 4,300 residents and 5,000 guests per year. This position will work for the Facilities Unit for University Housing. This unit oversees the upkeep of 1.2 million square feet of residential and retail space. The areas are comprised of Maintenance (which takes mechanical infrastructure, electronics, paint, and elevators) and Custodial which keeps our buildings clean and in tip top condition. The unit also facilitates our capital improvements and long-term project planning.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed
- Utilizes specialized equipment to repair and maintain complex machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
- Receives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries independently to appropriate entities
- Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures
- Performs routine and non-routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness

Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of general maintenance experience
- Valid Drivers License that meets UW Risk Management Standards
- High School Diploma
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 or more years of facility maintenance experience
- Previous on-call experience
- Previous experience in a 24/7/365 operation
- Industrial, technical, or HVAC-related degrees or certifications
