Duties
- Performing preventative maintenance
- Completing repairs and customer work orders independently
- Ensuring buildings and equipment operate at optimal performance
- Testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems independently
Additional Responsibilities – Facilities Technician I
- Aid in evaluating building and equipment conditions and providing repair recommendations
- Manage external vendors to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
- Complete or assist with testing, inspections, and maintenance of environmental and life safety systems
Additional Responsibilities – Facilities Technician II
- Provide technical guidance and training to peers
- Evaluate building and equipment conditions and provide recommendations
- Manage small O&M or capital improvement projects
- Manage external vendors and contractor compliance
- Complete or assist with testing, inspections, and maintenance of environmental and life safety systems
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Facilities Technician I: 1+ years of related facilities maintenance, construction, or trade experience
- Basic knowledge of building construction, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems
- Basic understanding of engineering and design principles
- Basic knowledge of environmental and life safety compliance regulations
- Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install building systems
- Ability to interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, technical specifications, and manuals
- Ability to work independently or within a team environment
- Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills
- Proficient with computers, Microsoft applications, and SAP or similar.
- Facilities Technician II: 5+ years of related facilities maintenance, construction, or trade experience
- Expert knowledge of building construction, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems
- Knowledge of engineering and design principles
- Knowledge of environmental and life safety compliance regulations
- Ability to evaluate building conditions and recommend solutions
- Ability to work independently across a large geographic territory
- Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies
- Strong communication, organization, and vendor management skills
- Proficient with computers, Microsoft applications, and SAP or similar.
Education Requirements
- Required: High school diploma or GED
- PREFERRED: Associate degree in Technology, Construction, Engineering, or a related field
- PREFERRED: Completion of a formal HVAC or Electrical apprenticeship program
Licenses, Certifications, or Qualifications
- Facilities Technician I: Required - Valid driver's license; Preferred - EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (Type I, II, and III)
- Facilities Technician II: Required - Valid driver's license; Required - Virginia DPOR Journeyman HVAC or Electrician Tradesman License; PREFERRED - Virginia DPOR Master HVAC; PREFERRED - EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (Type I, II, and III)

- Expected Hiring Base Salary Range:
- Facilities Technician I: $47,300 to $61,400
- Facilities Technician II: $65,500 to $85,000
