Job Overview

Facilities Technician I maintains, services, and conducts minor repairs on buildings and equipment. Performs a variety of semiskilled duties in the areas of painting and plumbing. Develops knowledge of common mechanical systems such as fluid control, hydraulics, pneumatics, gas, vacuum, heating, cooling, welding, and conveyance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow safety procedures, including lock out-tag out and confined space.
  • Common area and event waste removal, floor cleaning, lighting issues, furniture setup and clean up.
  • Operates light trucks and assorted power equipment.
  • Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on shop and office equipment/appliances.
  • Affords entry level maintenance support.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of related experience.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Ability to work under close supervision and follow detailed instructions. Valid driver’s license (as required by site). Ability to use and accurately read measuring devices. Ability to use basic hand tools and power tools to maintain and repair equipment. Ability to follow blueprints.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Vocational training or certification in building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC. Forklift or aerial lift certification. Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Performance Expectations

  • Complete work orders with minimal supervision.
  • Proactively identify and address facility issues.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities.
  • Prioritize safety in all tasks performed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Work Environment

  • The position is based in a manufacturing facility and includes exposure to noise, temperature variations, and airborne particles.
  • May involve working in confined spaces, on rooftops, or using ladders and lifts.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • May require after-hours response or weekend shifts depending on facility needs.
