Facilities Technician - Fire Safety Systems (Effective 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR)
About the role
Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains a wide variety of digital, analog, and security electronic equipment, to the component level. Ensures that district fire safety devices are functional and operating in compliance with codes, laws, and policies. Coordinates activities of other trade shops, building engineers and subcontractors as needed.

- Captures and coordinates activities of other trade shops, building engineers and subcontractors as needed.
Requirements
- Four (4) years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of digital and analog electronic systems, to include fire alarm or security systems, card access systems, or intercom systems
- Completion of a recognized training or apprenticeship program in the field
- Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions
Minimum Requirements
- Four (4) years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of digital and analog electronic systems, to include fire alarm or security systems, card access systems, or intercom systems
- Completion of a recognized training or apprenticeship program in the field
- Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions
Proof of Immunity
- Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
Physical Examination
- Post-offer/pre-employment physical examination and 75 lb. lift test
Driver’s License
- Must hold a current Arizona Driver’s license and have accrued no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees
Training and Certifications
- Bloodborne Pathogen training offered by TUSD Risk Management Department
- Prefered Qualifications: Four years of Supervisory Experience
- Certified Fire Alarm or Sprinkler ITM Specialist for Facility Managers
- Completion of a recognized training or apprenticeship program in assigned field to include:
- NICET Level I Certification
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification or equivalent

FTE: 1.0 – 8 hours per day
Work Calendar: 12 month
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language.
