Facilities Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Care and maintain all equipment and production assets in a safe, sanitary, and efficient condition.
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems.
  • Be readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals and work orders to perform required.
  • Observes/inspects mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Safely dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts (LOTO).
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Starts setup and operates, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts with proper training and experience.
  • Initiate/completes work orders through CMMS for parts and machines.
  • Complies with all safety rules, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Equipment Maintenance And Repair

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues with electromechanical equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
  • Repair or replace faulty components, such as motors, sensors, switches, and wiring.

Installation And Calibration

  • Install new electromechanical equipment and systems.
  • Calibrate equipment to meet specified performance criteria.
  • Ensure proper alignment and integration of mechanical and electrical components.

Testing And Evaluation

  • Conduct tests to evaluate the performance and functionality of equipment.
  • Use various tools and instruments for measurement and analysis.
  • Document test results and make necessary adjustments.

Documentation And Reporting

  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Create reports on equipment status, maintenance history, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Provide feedback to engineering teams for design enhancements.

Safety Compliance

  • Ensure all equipment and systems meet safety standards and regulations.
  • Follow safety protocols and promote a safe working environment.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineers, other technicians, and production staff to resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in project teams for equipment upgrades and modifications.

Troubleshooting

  • Identify and troubleshoot complex technical problems in electromechanical systems.
  • Implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.

Training And Support

  • Train and mentor junior technicians or operators on equipment operation and basic maintenance tasks.
  • Provide technical support to production personnel.
